Assistant Branch Manager
Position Overview:
This hands-on position assists in managing the sales and operations of the branch to include: teller line, customer service, sales management, staffing, personnel development and facility maintenance. Protect the bank against theft and fraud loss by ensuring effective implementation and continuation of loss control and physical security procedures. This position reports to the Branch Manager and has direct authority over all other Retail customer service staff members in the branch including Tellers, CSRs, and any other Retail staff.
Job Function:
• Personally serves customers by servicing, selling and referring bank products and services.
• Assists with management over operations and sales functions of the branch and is fully responsible for operations and decisions when the Branch Manager is not available.
• Responsible for ensuring that branch staff has thorough understanding of security practices and procedures.
• Maintain prescribed security controls to protect the bank against fraudulent operations and unnecessary risk or exposure.
• Accountable for the adherence of standard operating procedures by branch personnel.
• Has input into evaluating the performance of branch personnel
• Assists in the development of staff to include: training, coaching, delegation, motivation, and counseling.
• Promote an atmosphere of open communication.
• Exercise high-quality service standards to maximize growth and relationship retention.
• Conduct or assist with staff meetings to review operations and sales objectives of the bank.
• Responsible for ensuring staff’s compliance with compliance and regulatory issues relating to teller and new accounts to include BSA.
• Assist with direct business development initiatives to acquire new business from local businesses and high value prospects
• Make decisions regarding exceptions to policies and procedures to resolve customer or operational problems, particularly in absence of the Branch Manager.
• Maintain proficiency to sell, open and service retail and commercial deposit and related products and services; take applications for, and close, consumer and home equity loans.
• Make quality product and service referrals to ensure ongoing bank growth.
• Assist with reporting and audit duties.
• Assist in ensuring the facility is properly maintained and presents an image to the community and customers consistent with the bank’s image.
• Assist in ensuring mutual support and good relations with other business units operating within the branch facility and centralized departments with which the branch interacts.
• Understands and complies with all banking regulations, especially BSA/ AML as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
1. College degree preferred or suitable job experience.
2. Minimum of six months retail banking experience in teller/ new accounts area or suitable sales and service management experience.
3. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
4. Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
5. Potential for development of strong coaching, training and staff development skills.
6. Possess good written and oral communication skills.
7. Organized and detail oriented.
8. Potential for development of strong leadership skills.
9. Service and sales oriented.
10. Capable of effective planning and goal setting.
