Watch Out for Video

Many smart phones allow owners to create short videos. That’s a handy feature – but the technology can also be used to record your PIN number at ATMs or other points of sale. All an identity thief needs to do is hold their phone so they have a clear view of the PIN pad. Later they can watch the video as often as they need to in order to determine your PIN. Then, if they have your account number – or worse, steal your card – they can access your account.

Always protect yourself when you enter your PIN. Make sure eyes – and phones – don’t have access to what you enter.
